Max

We had a couple of weaned cockatiels in our upstairs room and one day the bird got it's band caught on its cage's food dish holder (which was actually part of the cage).  The poor bird fell and broke its leg.  We took it to the vet and unfortunately the one foot had to be amputated.  It had a bandage on the stump for awhile until it healed.  We had gotten offers to buy this bird, but we didn't want to have this bird taken to a stranger since it had already been under enough stress.  Now Max has learned to live with one foot and a stump, to climb in his cage he puts his stump through the holes of the cage.  He is doing well, and we are glad to have him!

Chico

This is my pet Citron Cockatoo, Chico.  I have had him for about 18 years.  I have tried giving him a mate, but as many cockatoos do, they did not get along.  He says a couple of words, and likes to be spoken to.  He is very choosey with the people he lets touch him, he likes me, but is terrified of my husband and daughther.
